TUCARD is like no other race you've ever seen.  Quite simply, you start at the start, collect markers at set waypoints (using whatever route you'd like and by bike or running or boat or whatever), and then finish at the finish.  Just that and pay attention to the fine print in the rulebook.  Also, the rulebook is all fine print.  It also changes right before you have to start racing.  If you are both frustrated and having fun, you are doing it right, and you're supporting a Maine tradition: public access to private lands.
